“I recently had to have surgery on my right shoulder and wanted to try everything to avoid surgery on my left shoulder. Through Hinge Health, I have not only been able to strengthen my left shoulder and become pain free, but the exercises have also helped me continue to rehab the right shoulder. The support from my Hinge Physical Therapist, Health Coach, and the app have been invaluable.”

About ADT

ADT, a leader in security solutions in the United States, recognized the need to enhance employee wellness programs after noticing their high healthcare costs that were associated with chronic conditions.

The company understands the importance of focusing on its employees’ overall well-being, which has led them to be very selective in the benefits programs that they offer.

This is actually Christina Kumbsky’s, the Senior Manager of Benefits at ADT, favorite part of the job. “People’s health is so important and I love to think about how we structure the programs and get to educate the importance of one’s health. I find it to be the most fulfilling to impact one’s health, not just physically but also mentally and how I can help to support.”

ADT’s workforce and benefits challenges

With a significant remote population spread across the United States, ADT faced the challenge of providing tailored healthcare programs that addressed the unique needs of its diverse workforce. Employees range from technicians to salespeople to corporate executives, who face a variety of healthcare challenges including obesity, cancer, diabetes, mental health and MSK conditions.

When Christina and her team noticed that MSK claims ranked among the top 5 highest cost drivers, they brought this to the attention of the Leadership Team, known for their cost-consciousness and data-driven decision-making. Christina emphasized, "Our executive team is cost conscious, and their primary objective is to ensure we offer programs that effectively address conditions driving up cost.”

The team then began to search for a MSK solution that would help to engage employees in their health and wellness. They wanted to ensure that employees could be supported from wherever they were located and were addressed with their specific needs.

ADT’s MSK benefits program and implementation

In early 2023, after a thorough vendor selection, ADT partnered with Hinge Health to help employees manage chronic pain and improve their quality of life. Christina shared, “It’s nice to see that Hinge Health is constantly growing and becoming more innovative. That was evident when we were going through the vendor search.” Christina and her team also appreciated the benefit of having non-invasive options for their employees to be able to manage their health issues.

ADT effectively communicates the company’s benefit offerings using a multifaceted approach. They partner with the Hinge Health Enrollment Marketing team, host webinars, leverage employee resource groups, and collaborate with their internal wellness champions. Newsletters and internal networks further amplify the message, ensuring comprehensive coverage. Importantly, Hinge Health physical therapists participate in these webinars alongside the wellness champions, providing real-time demonstrations of Hinge Health’s benefits. This robust communication strategy keeps employees well-informed and increases engagement.

Overall, the partnership between ADT and Hinge Health yielded remarkable outcomes:

Improved Employee Health: Hinge Health's program has been a game-changer for employees dealing with chronic conditions, helping them sidestep surgeries and better manage their pain. ADT has successfully created a healthier workplace and enhanced the overall well-being of its employees.

Increased Engagement: By reaching out through various communication channels, ADT saw impressive engagement.

Cost Reduction: ADT met their goal of reducing healthcare costs by prioritizing preventive health measures and managing chronic conditions effectively.
